Majors Group is a leading supplier of commercial ice cream machines, refrigerated display equipment, and commercial refrigeration systems to businesses across the hospitality and retail sectors.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a qualified Refrigeration Technician to install, service, maintain, and repair our range of commercial ice cream machines, display fridges, and refrigeration equipment at customer sites. This role ensures optimal performance and reliability of refrigeration systems for our clients.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish installation requirements from technical drawings, manufacturer specifications, and customer site requirements for ice cream machines and display refrigeration units
- Lay out installation reference points and prepare sites for equipment placement
- Drill holes, install mounting brackets, and prepare infrastructure for commercial ice cream machines and display fridges
- Cut, bend, and thread piping systems to accommodate ice cream machine and refrigeration equipment installations
- Install and connect components including compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, switches, gauges, and refrigerant lines specific to ice cream dispensing and display refrigeration systems
- Bolt, solder, rivet, weld, and braze pipes to connect ice cream machines and refrigeration equipment, ensuring proper alignment and secure fit
- Fill refrigeration systems with gas or fluid to conduct leak testing on newly installed ice cream machines and display units
- Test-operate ice cream machines and refrigeration systems to verify correct functioning, checking cooling mechanisms and making necessary adjustments
- Remove test gas and fluid using vacuum pumps, and charge systems with appropriate refrigerant according to manufacturer specifications
- Ensure ice cream machines achieve and maintain required temperatures for optimal product consistency
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial ice cream machines and display refrigeration equipment
- Check and overhaul refrigeration systems used in ice cream dispensing and display applications
- Diagnose faults in ice cream machines, display fridges, and associated refrigeration systems
- Repair and replace defective components including compressors, thermostats, defrost systems, and control boards
- Adjust system controls and mechanisms on ice cream equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Reassemble systems following repairs and maintenance procedures
- Record causes of equipment malfunctions and corrective actions taken
- Maintain accurate service reports and maintenance logs for ice cream machines and refrigeration equipment
- Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian Standards, refrigerant handling regulations, and workplace safety requirements
- Provide technical feedback to management regarding equipment performance and customer requirements
- Respond to customer service calls for equipment breakdowns and maintenance requests
- Provide basic operational training to customers on ice cream machine and refrigeration equipment use
- Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical customers and staff
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- AQF Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or equivalent and at least 12 months relevant experience
- Holds or eligibile for Australian Refrigerant Handling Licence (ARCtick)
- Relevant experience in commercial refrigeration (ice cream equipment or food service refrigeration experience highly regarded)
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical controls, and fault diagnosis
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to work under pressure especially during production.
- Able to troubleshot over the phone to prepare right tools to perform repairs.
- Positive communication and teamwork skills.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
