The Role
Sefa is gearing up for the next exciting phase of growth with an opportunity for a recent Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join the team, bringing their energy and passion for the social impact and finance sector. This leadership role is critical to Sefa and Sefa partnerships’ joint mission: to provide flexible finance to impact‑led organisations and help them access other resources they need to grow, promoting a fairer future.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

- Drive Financial Strategy : Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to ensure long‑term sustainability.
- Ensure Governance & Compliance : Oversee corporate governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance across Sefa Group entities.
- Board & Performance Reporting : Deliver accurate financial and operational reports, manage audits, and track key performance metrics.
- Operational Leadership : Manage core business operations including finance, HR, IT, and facilities to ensure efficiency and resilience.
- People & Culture :



Oversee recruitment, performance management, and staff engagement to foster a high‑performance, values‑driven culture.
- Technology & Security : Ensure robust IT systems and cybersecurity measures to support organisational needs.
- Continuous Improvement : Identify and implement process efficiencies and lead strategic projects to enhance operational performance.

About You
You will be an experienced, values‑driven COO who can bring both non‑profit and private sector experience. Known for your capability to pivot between hands‑on operations and strategic thinking, you will thrive in an agile environment, ensuring Sefa’s operations are robust, scalable and fluid.

Required Skills and Proficiencies

- Strong operational and financial management experience (10+ years).
- In‑depth understanding of corporate governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
- Proven expertise in budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, influence, and collaborate at senior management and board level.




- Understanding of the challenges facing impact‑led organisations in Australia.
- Existing network in the purpose/social impact sector.
- Flexibility, patience and tenacity.
