The Birch is an exciting new pub opening soon in the heart of Newtown. We’re creating a warm, contemporary venue focused on quality food, great drinks, and memorable dining experiences for our local community. As we build our kitchen team, we’re seeking a talented and reliable Chef de Partie to join us for this new chapter.
About the Role
As a Chef de Partie at The Birch, you will take charge of your section and help deliver a modern pub-style menu with an emphasis on fresh produce, consistency, and seasonal flavours. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team to create approachable yet elevated dishes suited to a vibrant neighbourhood pub.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain your designated kitchen section to a high standard.
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes across lunch and dinner services.
- Uphold consistency, portion control, and quality throughout service.
- Contribute to menu ideas, daily specials, and seasonal updates.
- Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene, and cleaning practices.
- Support the training and development of junior kitchen staff.
- Work collaboratively to ensure smooth and efficient service.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or a strong Commis Chef ready to step up.
- A solid background in bistro, brasserie, or pub-style cooking.
- Passion for modern Australian cuisine and fresh, seasonal produce.
- Solid time management and the ability to thrive in a busy kitchen.
- A positive team-focused attitude and commitment to quality.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster including nights and weekends.
