Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced General Medicine Physicians to join the General Medicine team in 2026.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role:
Northern Health are seeking General Medicine Physicians to join our dynamic and busy General Medicine service in 2026. We welcome candidates with qualifications in general medicine or specialty medicine who are passionate about delivering high-quality care in a general medicine setting.
Available positions include permanent ward service across the Northern Hospital Epping Medical Units 1, 2, and 5, as well as Broadmeadows Medicine Units. In addition, there is a permanent General Medicine outpatient clinic on a Tuesday afternoon.
There are also opportunities for leave cover across various medical units throughout 2026. Employment arrangements will be offered as a mix of Permanent, Permanent + Internal Locum, and Internal Locum appointments.
Additional Internal Locum opportunities may include weekend ward rounds and covering sick or unplanned leave throughout the year.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience and good working knowledge of general medicine in an acute care setting
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement in both clinical services and quality initiatives
- Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, staff, and stakeholders
- Strong interest in contributing to education and training within a hospital setting
- Ability to adapt and respond to changing patient needs and hospital requirements
