Intermediate Accountant (2-3 years, Public Practice)

The Opportunity
This is a hands-on role for an Intermediate Accountant (2-3 years' experience) seeking broad client exposure and clear progression. You'll work end-to-end across a diverse portfolio, with structured training, mentoring and direct access to Managers/Partners.
What You'll Do
- Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, individuals and SMSFs.
- Complete BAS/IAS, FBT, payroll-related lodgements and GST reconciliations/reviews.
- Build robust workpapers using Active Workpapers, and perform general ledger/bank reconciliations and year-end adjustments using Active Ledger.
- Work confidently in MYOB and Xero ledgers; manage jobs and workflows in Xero Practice Manager (XPM).
- Assist with tax planning, CGT, Division 7A, small-business concessions,
depreciation and loan/account reconciliations.
- Liaise with clients to gather information and provide updates; assist with ATO queries and correspondence.
- Contribute to process improvement and help uplift quality across the team.
About You
- 2-3 years in public practice with solid compliance foundations.
- Degree in Accounting/Commerce; CA/CPA underway or keen to commence.
- Clear written and verbal communication; confident with client contact.
- Detail-driven, organised and comfortable with deadlines in a busy team.
- Software: Practical experience with Active Workpapers, Active Ledger, MYOB, Xero, and XPM; strong Excel skills (lookups/pivots) a plus.
