Downer is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful bid, award, planning, and delivery of major civils, earthworks, and life-extension projects for a key Oil & Gas client. This role is ideal for a driven leader who thrives in complex environments and is committed to achieving exceptional project outcomes. This role will be based in our CBD office.
The Opportunity
As the Project Manager, you will oversee the full project lifecycle from tender development to final delivery. You will bring strong commercial acumen across multiple contracting models, including Schedule of Rates, Target Cost Estimate, and Lump Sum, ensuring all works are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
You will provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams, build strong relationships with clients and subcontractors, and ensure all project activities meet Downer’s Zero Harm standards, statutory requirements, and environmental and quarantine obligations.
What we are looking for
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent (essential)
- Project Management certification
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in project management within construction, civils, or resources sector
- Proven track record delivering projects under Schedule of Rates, Target Cost Estimate, and Lump Sum models
- Demonstrated capability managing multi-discipline scopes: civils, earthworks, accommodation upgrades, services replacement, and remediation
- Experience leading tendering, bid management,
and client negotiations
- Previous experience working in remote oil & gas or resources environments, including environmental and quarantine compliance
