About the role

We are seeking an experienced Analytical Development Lead to head our Analytical Department at the Virginia Development Centre. This role is pivotal in driving analytical excellence and innovation across our product development pipeline for the ANZ region.

You will lead a team of analytical chemists, oversee method development and validation, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. As a member of the Development Centre Leadership Team, you will influence strategic decisions, foster collaboration across global networks, and champion continuous improvement in analytical capabilities.

Main responsibilities

1. Department Leadership & People Management

- Full accountability for the Analytical Development Department, operational excellence and adherence to high safety and scientific standards
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analytical chemists, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Define priorities, allocate resources effectively, and monitor progress against key milestones.

2. Analytical Research & Development

- Drive analytical method development,



validation/verification, and transfer for new product development projects.
- Oversee creation and review of analytical protocols, procedures/test methods, and reports.
- Lead the execution of the up-front stability program.
- Oversee the investigation process for out-of-specification and/or out-of-trend analytical results ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.
- Oversee the qualification, calibration, and maintenance schedule for laboratory Instruments and Equipment
- Participate in various initiatives for analytical practices across development centers
- Ensure compliance with TGA regulatory standards and champion analytical innovation beyond traditional approaches.

3. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

- Act as the primary spokesperson for the Analytical Department within the Development Centre.
- Present analytical results and departmental progress to project teams and senior leadership.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
- Prepare impactful presentations and publications to showcase the team’s capabilities and achievements.

4. Budget & Strategic Investments

- Manage the department’s annual budget and investment plan.
- Identify and implement new technologies to maintain a state-of-the-art analytical environment.

5. Continuous Improvement & Capability Expansion

- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance ways of working and expand the Development Centre’s capabilities.
- Support quality and safety audits and inspections, ensuring readiness and compliance at all times.
- Lead the timely implementation of change controls (CCs) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)



to uphold quality and safety standards.

About you

Qualifications:

- Degree in Chemistry or Pharmacy , with a solid pharmaceutical or consumer healthcare background

Experience:

- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in analytical development for nutraceuticals or complementary medicines, with deep expertise in advanced analytical techniques

- Demonstrated success in team leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement

- Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory environments, including TGA and global standards

- Proficiency in analytical methods such as HPLC, UHPLC, LC-MS, GC-FID, HTPLC, ICP-MS, and ICP-OES.

Skills:

- Highly organised, results-driven, and adaptable, with exceptional communication skills

- Proven ability to develop and manage budgets, allocate resources effectively, and ensure cost efficiency

- Strong skills in documentation, record-keeping, and reporting

- Track record of delivering multiple projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards

- Collaborative and team-oriented, with a strong work ethic and ability to achieve successful outcomes
