Busy Bees at Carrum Downs is seeking a Part-Time Chef (30 hours per week, Monday to Friday) to join our warm and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who enjoys early hours, consistency, and work–life balance with no weekend work.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks in line with children’s dietary needs and centre menu plans
- Maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic kitchen environment in accordance with Food Safety Standards
- Manage stock levels, ordering, and kitchen supplies
- Cater to special dietary requirements, including allergies and cultural or medical needs
- Collaborate with educators and leadership to support centre events and celebrations
- Promote healthy eating habits and food education for children
What You’ll Need
- Certificate in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent experience working as a chef or cook)
- Experience working in a kitchen environment within childcare (highly desirable)
- Working with Children Check (Employee) – VIC requirement
- Understanding of nutrition requirements for young children
- Food Safety Supervisor certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong organisation skills and ability to work independently
- Availability Monday to Friday across a 30-hour weekly schedule
