We now have an extraordinary opportunity for a Business Development Manager, to support the hotel through its critical pre-opening phase and successful launch.
Job Description
As the Business Development Manager, you will be instrumental in establishing Mercure Melbourne La Trobe Street's presence in the market, driving revenue, and building strong foundational relationships. This pivotal role requires a proactive and strategic approach to identify and secure new business opportunities, ensuring a successful launch and sustained profitability for our new property.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve pre-opening revenue targets and establish a robust client base across various market segments (corporate, MICE, leisure groups, etc.).
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities through extensive market research, prospecting, and networking within the local Melbourne market.
- Cultivate and maintain strong, long lasting relationships with key corporate clients, travel agents, event planners, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to promote the property and build brand awareness.
- Provide regular reports on sales activities, pipeline status,
and market intelligence to the leadership team.
About You
You are results oriented and highly motivated sales professional with a passion for hospitality and a proven track record in business development, particularly within a pre-opening hotel environment. You thrive in dynamic settings, possess an entrepreneurial spirit, and are adept at building genuine connections.
You will also have:
· Demonstrable knowledge of the local Melbourne market, including key events, corporate accounts and tourism trends.
· Strong local market connections and an established network within the corporate, MICE, and leisure segments.
· Strong prospecting abilities with a proactive and strategic focus on identifying and securing new business opportunities.
· A proven record of relationship building with both internal teams and external business partners, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· A commitment to delivering exceptional service and representing the Mercure brand with integrity and enthusiasm.
