Macarthur Grange Crematorium – South Western Sydney
Macarthur Grange Crematorium is a well-established and high-volume facility located in South Western Sydney. We are seeking a suitably qualified, reliable, and compassionate individual to join our team as a Night Shift Crematorium Operator. This is a full-time position averaging 37.5 hours per week, with standard night shift hours of 10:00pm to 6:00am, or as operational needs reasonably require.
We offer on-the-job training and ongoing professional support.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for the safe, lawful, and respectful operation of the crematorium during night hours, including:
- Operating cremation equipment between approximately 10:00pm–6:00am (or within operational needs).
- Available on a rotating roster Monday - Sunday (availability on weekends is essential).
- Maintaining accurate cremation and facility records.
- Assisting with mortuary logistics, including recieving of, handling, and storage of deceased persons.
- Handling, processing, and secure storage of cremated remains in accordance with NSW regulations and internal policies.
- Performing cleaning tasks, general upkeep, and basic maintenance of cremation equipment (training provided).
- Ensuring all work is performed safely and respectfully, consistent with NSW Work Health and Safety legislation,
infection-control requirements, and industry standards.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Computer literacy, with the ability to complete record-keeping accurately.
- Good physical health and the capability to safely handle deceased persons and coffins in line with safe-lifting guidelines.
- The ability to work independently, follow procedures, and maintain a high standard of attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and empathy when interacting with colleagues and funeral service providers.
- Previous crematorium, mortuary, funeral, or related industry experience is desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided to the right candidate.
