Yum Cha Noodle Haus is a vibrant, well-established Chinese restaurant located in the heart of Surfers Paradise. We pride ourselves on delivering authentic flavours, traditional cooking techniques, and exceptional service. Our team is passionate about great food and creating memorable dining experiences for our guests.
We're seeking an experienced and dedicated Chef to join our kitchen team full time. This role offers the chance to showcase your culinary skills in Chinese cuisine, contribute to menu development, and play a key role in maintaining our high standards of quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes in line with the restaurant's menu and quality standards.
- Plan and organise daily food preparation, ensuring efficient and timely service.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff in food handling, cooking techniques, and safety standards.
- Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and presentation to ensure consistency.
- Assist in menu planning, food costing, and inventory control.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
- Maintain stock levels, order supplies,
and minimise food wastage.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years' full-time experience as a Chef, specialising in Chinese cuisine.
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
- Proficiency in traditional Chinese cooking methods - wok frying, steaming, roasting, and noodle preparation.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and supervise junior staff.
- Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
