The Role
We are excited to be able to offer a limited number of positions for Enrolled Nurses seeking a career in Forensic Mental Health Nursing. This program is suitable for new Enrolled Nurses and experienced Enrolled Nurses looking to work in a new environment. This program is based in the Forensic Hospital in Malabar.
The Transition to Mental Health Program is a 12-month program designed for clinicians with an interest in mental health nursing. You will be supported by our team of educators, preceptors, managers, and other health leaders. We provide targeted education opportunities to enhance your confidence as a clinician and development as a mental health nurse including assessment, de-escalation, and care planning and delivery.
The Enrolled Nurse (EN) (Medication Endorsed) contributes to planning, implementing, evaluation of health issues and assisting in the provision of nursing care for patients.
The EN is responsible for providing the day-to-day mental health and physical health care requirements of patients. This must be in line with the principles of recovery and forensic mental health rehabilitation.
The EN must integrate therapeutic goals with security requirements through constant appraisal of organisational processes and nurse-patient relationships to ensure that opportunities for therapeutic endeavour are maximised. All staff have a responsibility to maintain the safety and security of patients, staff and visitors within the high secure environment.
You will develop strong professional connections with colleagues and making a positive contribution to vulnerable people. This dynamic work environment is interesting, stimulating, challenging, rewarding and one where you can have a positive impact on the lives of patients and their families.
On successful completion of the transition program, program participants may be directly appointed to a permanent position. Merit selection processes may apply in some locations.
