Job Description

The opportunity

RWWA are thrilled to announce a unique opening for a Racing Training Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing the industry training and development programs offered within the Racing Training department to create a sustainable supply of high-quality educated professionals and athletes across thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing within the WA Racing industry.

Responsibilities of the role encompass, but are not limited to:

- Oversee the high-performance training program for apprentice jockeys to ensure an adequate supply for WA racing
- Work within a continuous improvement setting to evaluate and adjust the apprentice jockey training program to develop professional athletes that meets the needs of industry




- Identify and develop formal and informal training programs to develop concession drivers with the skills needed to succeed in harness racing
- Design, develop and facilitate training relating to young driver development where applicable
- Continuously review current licensing training materials to ensure current industry regulations and legislations are being met
- Work with internal divisions to assist in creating additional educational programs to meet animal welfare requirements
- Oversee the recruitment and induction process for apprentice jockeys
- Develop and maintain relationships with international stakeholders for visiting apprentices
- Manage individual performance of each apprentice and address any issues or concerns and formalise where appropriate
- Develop and maintain RTO quality and risk management systems




- Assist with planning, implementation and review of third-party certification audits
- Maintain compliance through third party arrangements
- Mitigate risks and ensure all non-conformances or improvement opportunities identified in audits are reviewed and appropriate actions are implemented
- Oversee Racing WA’s Trackwork Rider and School Based Traineeships to ensure it meets the needs of industry and a pathway to our Apprentice Jockey Training Program and maintain funding opportunities
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to determine training requirements for RWWA internal racing staff to raise the level of industry professionalism

Qualifications

About you

Ideally to be successful in this role you will need:

- Possession of TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor




- Solid understanding of the VET sector and Standards for RTOs 2025
- Knowledge of the racing industry (advantageous)
- Knowledge of the Rules of Racing (desirable)
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders
- Coaching/mentoring abilities
- Problem solving skills
