Primary objective
Provide high quality, culturally appropriate and effective oral health treatment, oral health promotion and specialist referrals
to eligible clients within scope of practice.

Context statement
This position is based at community dental clinics, also providing services at school clinics and outreach placements in
rural/remote clinics. This position is suitable for an experienced and autonomous clinician.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide safe,



client centric and culturally appropriate oral health services under minimal supervision.
2. Ensure clinical and corporate records are maintained, including accurate documentation and statistics.
3. Actively participate in development, implementation and evaluation of oral health promotion programs.
4. Provide feedback to senior staff and management on program and clinical issues.
5. Contribute to the achievement of work unit goals and key performance indicators.
6. Undertake administrative duties required for the efficient operation of the service, including managing appointment

schedules.
7. Actively participate in quality improvement activities including accreditation and staff development program.
8. Provide clinical/professional supervision and/or support to students and junior staff.
9. Follow defined service quality standards,



work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being

undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
10.Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Dental Therapist/Oral Health

Therapist and the ability to gain a radiographer’s permit in the Northern Territory.
2. Demonstrated current evidence based clinical practices and techniques with an ability to prioritise clinical and

administration outcomes.
3. Demonstrated pro-active team member with a high standard of both conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
4. Well-developed knowledge of Microsoft suite, patient information systems and database.
5.



Demonstrated high standard cross-cultural awareness and an ability to interact effectively with people from diverse

cultures.
6. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in health promotion with the application of primary health care principles.
7. Demonstrated ability to incorporate fundamental WHS and Infection Control policies and procedures into clinical

practice.
8. Current NT driver’s licence or the ability to attain one and the ability to travel to remote areas by 4WD vehicle or light

aircraft, for periods of a minimum of five days at a time.
