Change and Release Manager
At Optus, we don’t sit back and let the future happen to us - we’re out there making it. By expanding into new technology and relentlessly improving every day, we’re creating a better tomorrow for all Australians.
We believe in the strength of a vibrant, diverse and inclusive workforce where backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences of our people help us innovate and create strong connections with our customers.
We’re on the lookout for a Change Manager with a technical background to join our Service Management Office in Enterprise Business. In this role,
you’ll govern and execute change and release processes across infrastructure, networks, and enterprise systems — ensuring seamless delivery with minimal disruption. This isn’t about organisational change — we want someone who understands the technical depth of IT systems, networks, and platforms, and who thrives in large-scale managed environments.
You’ll be working within an ITIL-aligned framework, collaborating across technical teams, vendors, project delivery groups, and business stakeholders to manage risk, maintain stability, and drive continuous improvement across all customer change and release activity
Your Day-to-Day:
- Manage the full lifecycle of technical change requests, from assessment and CAB coordination through to implementation and post-implementation review.
- Govern and oversee all release management activities – ensuring effective scheduling, planning, deployment and rollback for system updates, infrastructure upgrades, and critical enterprise releases.
- Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to drive automation and CI/CD adoption,
reducing manual effort and increasing release reliability.
- Maintain compliance with Optus and customer ITSM policies, ensuring that changes are accurately tracked, evaluated, and reflected in the CMDB.
- Coordinate across internal and external stakeholders to reduce risk, prevent change-induced incidents, and maintain operational stability.
What We're Looking For:
- 3+ years in technical change and release management, preferably in a large-scale managed services or enterprise ICT environment.
- Deep understanding of ITIL processes (ITIL Foundation required; Intermediate or Expert certifications highly regarded).
- Hands-on experience coordinating technical changes, running CABs, managing release plans, and executing structured rollout and rollback procedures.
- Exposure to DevOps environments, including familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, Ansible,
Bamboo) and deployment automation.
- Experience with ServiceNow or other ITSM tools, plus working knowledge of CMDB and configuration management processes.
- Strong understanding of networks, infrastructure, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP experience desirable).
- Australian Citizenship (mandatory) and eligibility for AGSVA Baseline security clearance (current clearance highly regarded)
