About the role
The Senior Product Designer role creates and advises on meaningful end-to-end experiences and delivers quality designs in line with best practices to ensure high quality products and services for the people of NSW.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Apply a customer-centric approach by supporting end-to-end product design through discovery, framing, iterative development and delivery
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand organisational needs and create innovative solutions that ensure alignment between customer expectations and product capability
- Provide specialist advice to overcome technical and prioritisation challenges by supporting best practice methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time
- Provide coaching and mentoring for the ongoing development of team members in order to build capability to deliver innovative products for the NSW community
- Apply best practice industry methodologies, standards and guidelines to create user-friendly products that work for the majority of people and meet accessibility guidelines and customer needs
- Maintain an awareness of relevant industry trends, opportunities and practices, and collaborate closely with experts in the AI/ML space,
connecting technical opportunities to optimise Government products and services
This role will be a perfect fit for someone who:

On your first day, you'll bring experience:
- working in lean environments, successfully delivering great customer experiences and journeys
- helping design leaders to manage stakeholders, establish relationships and facilitate discussions and workshops
- collaborating effectively across the organisation to get things done and proactively resolve problems
- breaking down complex problems into actionable steps that you can communicate effectively to others
- contributing to more than just design, but also strategic thinking and working effectively with others.
Support office roles will be headquartered across McKell, Parramatta and Gosford. We will consider role headquarters outside of the above locations where the role can reasonably be performed from that location taking into consideration the operational, financial and customer requirements of the role, and an ability to attend a NSW Government workplace as required. At the point an employee is notified of our intention to assign them to a role, the relevant leader will discuss headquarter options.
Salary Service NSW Grade 9/10,
with the base salary for this role starting at $130,705 base plus superannuation
