About the role

We are seeking a dedicated After Hours Community Support Worker to be part of a multidisciplinary team at Flagstaff and The Open Door program. This program provides accommodation support and assertive engagement for males experiencing homelessness with multifaceted and complex needs or vulnerability. As the Community Support Worker, you will welcome clients into a community of support characterised by genuine acceptance, compassion and care.

Responsibilities include
- Support residents to develop functional skills, including social and domestic care, recreation and other skills required for independent living
- Facilitate group activities to meet the social support, recreation, education, and health needs of residents
- Facilitate access to specialist support services, including health, mental health, AOD and therapeutic interventions both within The Salvation Army and through external services




- Works collaboratively with the casework team, specialist services and co-located external providers
- Identify strategies to deal with challenging or high risk situations

This is a max-term full-time position based in North Melbourne, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 4 Award.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services or related field
- Experience and knowledge of Housing and Homelessness sector (desirable)
- Shows personal motivation to completing work activities effectively
- Recognise the need for referral and takes appropriate action
- Seeks opportunities for ongoing development
- Engages with others to share information and solve issues and problems jointly
