**About the team**

The Infrastructure and Place division is in the process of delivering an ambitious and once-in-a generation multi-billion program of public infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come. We are dedicated and passionate team that is proud of the work we do and the supportive and flexible team culture we have built.

**About the Projects**

The Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) is a major transport infrastructure project that will integrate with public transport, improve travel times and boost reliability for cross harbour trips and the broader network. This new western bypass of the CBD includes over 6.5km of twin tunnels from the Rozelle Interchange, under Sydney Harbour and to the Warringah Freeway. The majority of the project will be deep underground in tunnels,



greatly reducing surface impacts to private property, communities and the environment.

**The opportunity**

Reporting to the Project Director, you will bring expertise in tunnel construction for the successful development and delivery of the Western Harbour Tunnel project. As part of the senior management team, you will provide professional and technical leadership in developing the design and construction packages to ensure that works are delivered safely and successfully.

You will manage and work with professional matrix teams, contractors, and service providers to deliver the works collaboratively and cooperatively. You will also be responsible for driving best practice technical and project management principles throughout the project,



ensuring that a project management framework is applied consistently and aligns with delivery timeframes, costs and quality requirements.

The Construction Director will provide strategic guidance and support State Government's target for infrastructure development during the development of further stages on the Project.

**About you**

You have a background in working on multi-hundreds of million/billion dollar infrastructure projects. Previous experience in the successful development and/or delivery of major tunnel infrastructure projects is essential. Modelling excellent leadership, you have a track record in driving optimal project development and engineering decisions made through the promotion of a culture of collaboration, innovation and creativity across the whole development and delivery teams.

As the projects will be delivered in an environment of intense scrutiny from the public and media,



your interpersonal and influencing skills will support you in negotiating successful outcomes. You understand the balance of addressing customer requirements whilst adhering to other regulatory, policy, government and operational conditions. You will bring experience managing competing and complex demands to ensure timely delivery of projects considering quality, cost efficiencies and timeframes and assessing variations while resolving conflicts and priorities.

**Essential requirements**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Roadheader tunnel construction, Tunnel Boring Machine tunnel construction, Tunnel Geotechnical services,



tunnel survey, mechanical and electrical (M&E;) construction, engineering, or transport infrastructure related fields and systems
- Detailed knowledge of the technical aspects of tunnel infrastructure projects with a focus on Roadheader and Tunnel Boring Machine tunnels. Experienced in soft rock or mixed ground conditions would be seen as favourable.
- Demonstrated ability in managing specialised and multidisciplinary teams of tunnel specialists who can design and deliver tunnels and tunnel systems in complex environments utilising experience across multiple disciplines, including geotechnical, drainage, fire systems, sustain
