**About the team**
The Infrastructure and Place division is in the process of delivering a once-in-a generation multi-billion dollar program of public infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come. We are dedicated and passionate team that is proud of the work we do and the supportive and flexible team culture we have built.
The Technical Services Branch provides specialised engineering services for the multi-modal delivery, operations and management of our Transport network, and is the centre of technical expertise driving innovation and best practice.
The role is part of the Technical Services branch and works in integrated project teams, supports the management and delivery of technical contracts, and leads multidisciplinary technical development and delivery of projects to meet client needs and business unit objectives.
**The opportunity**
We have an exciting opportunity for a **Technical Manager
- Track/Civil** who has the ability to deal with a diverse range of complex matters and highly conceptual issues to join Infrastructure and Place’s Technical Services team within Transport for NSW. This Vacancy is in the Rail Programs team, part of the Eastern Harbours City & Corridors. The type of projects may include More Trains More Services, Regional Rail Enabling works, and other various heavy rail projects.
The primary focus of the role is to manage specialist technical engineering services delivered by TAOs, ensuring that an engineering framework is developed and maintained which supports the Project Team in the delivery of projects within clearly defined safety, scope, quality, time and cost constraints.
You will:
- Lead Technical Services management of project development and delivery
- Manage and contribute to review of submitted plans and design documentation
- Manage value and risk based on sound judgement and engineering fundamentals
- Coordinate and consult with project functional teams and stakeholders to agree strategy and approach
- Provide technical advice to cross-functional teams
- Prepare proposals, briefing reports, progress reports, etc
- Reconcile stakeholders’ disparate aspirations to settle on project outcomes that deliver for the greater good.
**About you**
We are looking for a Technical Manager who can take TfNSW into the new era of engineering.
**Key Knowledge and Experience**:
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of current and emerging best practice systems.
- Experience in providing technical specialist advice to deliver quality infrastructure solutions and projects to diverse stakeholders to meet business requirements.
- Experience in working on multidisciplinary projects, managing design developments and delivery and understating interdisciplinary coordination aspects.
**Essential Requirements**:
- Provision of expert and specialised track/civil advice
- Effective management of the technical and engineering components of the project(s)
by implementing and supporting systems and processes to report and monitor key technical criteria required for good internal governance.
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional experience in complex transport infrastructure projects.
This role is classified as a Rail Safety Worker (RSW). Category 3 medical will be required.
