**What's the role all about**
The purpose of this role is to establish a consistently high standard and approach for developing, implementing, monitoring and reporting on policies and strategies across the City of Port Phillip. You will work with senior stakeholders including the Policy and Strategy Steering Committee and Executive Leadership Team to establish a shared understanding of "what good looks like", and you'll provide advice and practical support to policy and strategy owners, to help them deliver the best possible outcomes.
**What you might do**
- Undertake research and benchmarking to inform continuous improvement in policy and strategy development
- Create and maintain a policy framework, templates,
and other tools to help policy and strategy owners do their jobs effectively and efficiently
- Manage the policy register, policy bookcase and web publication of public-facing policies and strategies
- Monitor and report on whether the organisation is meetings its legislative and regulatory obligations with regard to policies and strategies
- Convene the Policy and Strategy Steering Committee, including managing the forward schedule to balance and appropriately prioritise the needs of different departments and the organisation as a whole.
**Who we are looking for**
- Ability to engage and influence senior leaders effectively, and work with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to write concise, accurate, well-reasoned reports
- Experience developing policies and/or strategies in local government, or similar context
- Strong understanding of document management and control
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
