Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME) – iChris Implementation

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the implementation of the iChris payroll system. The successful candidate will work closely with the project team and stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition and optimal system configuration. This role requires deep payroll expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience with payroll systems, ideally iChris .
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Act as the subject matter expert for payroll processes, legislation, and best practices during the iChris system implementation.
- Collaborate with internal and client teams to define payroll requirements, ensuring compliance with local regulations and business needs.
- Support system configuration, testing, and validation of payroll data migration.
- Provide input on payroll process design, workflows, and system enhancements.
- Conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions for payroll teams and key stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot payroll-related issues, identify gaps, and recommend solutions.
- Ensure successful parallel runs and post-implementation stabilization.
- Work alongside technical teams to validate integrations with other HR, finance, and timekeeping systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation of payroll processes, system configurations, and issue resolution steps.
Requirements
WHO YOU ARE
- Proven experience as a Payroll SME, Payroll Manager, or Payroll Consultant.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with iChris payroll system (or similar payroll platforms) is highly desirable.
- Experience with payroll implementations, system migrations, or process transformations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a project-driven environment.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to train and support stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with payroll systems integrations (HRIS, finance, time & attendance systems).
- Understanding of payroll reporting and analytics.
- Change management experience in payroll transformation projects.
