The opportunity
The National Manager Behaviour Support and Safeguarding will provide organisational leadership, advocacy and oversight in promoting high quality approach to behaviour support for residents and clients across Regis Aged Care Homes and Services. This includes but not limited to Dementia Care and Mental Health support.
The role will contribute at an operational level by providing expert advice to other Regis teams to ensure the delivery of personal, safe, effective and integrated care in line with best practice and sustainable management of the business. Working with and through other member of the Clinical, Care and Quality team, the role is responsible for delivering capability within our carer and nursing workforce.
In addition to behaviour support, role will also be responsible for providing leadership to support in minimising the use of restrictive practices.
The important role you'll play
- Provide clinical skill and expertise to ensure systems and processes are in place to support the delivery of evidence based, quality care across Regis Homes and Services
- Support clinical compliance and safety, and manage risk (as it related to behaviour support and restrictive practices)
- Skilfully lead and support projects related to behaviour support and safeguarding
- Support governance and reporting
- Facilitate education and training program for behaviour support and safeguarding
- Deliver excellent customer service, contribute to team culture and positive working relationships
- Contribute to a safe, compliant living and working environment
What you'll bring to the role
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration (no conditions)
- Qualifications or relevant training related to Behaviour Support, Dementia Care and/ or mental health - desirable
- Relevant experience within an Aged Care or Health Care environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of dementia and neurocognitive disorders relevant to behaviour support and restrictive practices
- Demonstrated experience of working within a compliance framework i.e. Aged Care Standards or National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards
- Demonstrated contemporary knowledge in relation to person centred behaviour support and restrictive practices in an aged care context.
- Understanding of current trends, initiatives and related issues that enhance the experience of people in care environments
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to exercise good judgement, identify priorities and discriminate between options based on evidence.
- Ability to take a systems approach to the understanding of behaviour support and restrictive practices, and the delivery of safe, high-quality care.
- Capacity to work in a busy environment, successfully handling competing priorities and ability to effectively manage and prioritise workload distributed among a team to deliver agreed outcomes.
- Self-awareness of own performance, behaviours, and a commitment to personal development.
- Demonstrated experience engaging, communicating and managing relationships with a diversity of stakeholders across a national organisation and within a matrix environment
- Ability to drive and influence change
- Advanced computer skills including programs in the Microsoft Office Suite environment
To work in residential aged care, you will need to provide satisfactory background checks, supply an NDIS worker screening clearance, current year flu vaccination,
and certification proof.
