**About the role**:
**Make a Real Difference in Animal Welfare**: As our Governance and Compliance Officer, you'll be the vital link between our Board, Senior Leadership, and Committees. Your meticulous record-keeping, seamless meeting management, and proactive support will ensure our governance operates at the highest standard, directly contributing to the well-being of animals in need.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
This diverse role will challenge and reward you by providing you with the following responsibilities and duties:
- Ensure governance and compliance requirements, including coordinating reporting, managing the AGM, and maintaining business registrations, licenses, and statutory reporting.
- Manage FOI compliance by processing requests, responding to reviews, and making legal decisions and submissions on behalf of the Principal Officer.
- Triage and escalate privacy complaints, breaches, or queries, while monitoring compliance with privacy principles.
- Provide FOI and privacy training to employees and volunteers.
- Manage the centralisation of contracts,
agreements, leases, and legal documents, including maintaining registers.
- Identify areas for improvement in governance and compliance, developing new systems and processes to align with strategic objectives.
- Assist the Legal Counsel with legal matters, including subpoena responses, documentation coordination, and project-related tasks.
- Support the efficient functioning of governance and compliance systems within the organisation.
**What we are looking for**:
- Previous experience in supporting Board Chair and/or Director of a Board.
- Experience working as part of secretariat team, governance role or para legal is highly regarded.
- High level literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills, including intermediate computer skills (including use of Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and a good eye for detail.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
**Recruitment Requirements**:
- Current and valid Victorian Driver's License.
- Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
