About The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental professional to join our team as the Coordinator Sustainability and Resilience on a permanent, full-time basis.
Working within our Environment section, the successful candidate will be responsible to provide expertise to halt or reserve the effects, pressures and threats on the built and natural environment by working in collaboration with internal stakeholders, our community and other stakeholders.
The Successful Applicant Will
Inform, educate and increase community awareness on sustainability, energy & water efficiency, climate adaptation and resilience issuesLead the development, implementation and ongoing management of sustainability and resilience,
including managing our 3 year Disaster ready fund projectAssist with coordinating sustainability planning and implementation across the environmental, social, procurement and governance areas.
Essential
Qualifications and experience
Relevant Degree in environmental science, urban planning or equivalentSolid experience in an environmental, sustainability, community resilience or related fieldKnowledge of relevant climate change and energy policy, legislation, guidance and standards as well as a good understanding of the impacts of climate changeStrong capacity or solid experience in the development of strategies, policies and programs related to environmental sustainabilityProven project management skills, with a strong record of achievement in planning, coordinating,
delivering and evaluating a broad range of programs and projectsDemonstrated ability to promote and disseminate environmental knowledge at both an individual and organisational levelDemonstrated analytical and problem-solving skillsComputer literacy in basic Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applicationsDemonstrated high-level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations, write correspondence, complex reports, grant applications and award submissionsCurrent class C driver's licence.
Desirable
Research, analytical and problem-solving skills, including an ability to identify strategic issues and develop innovative responses to achieve outcomesExperience in staff supervisionLocal government experienceExperience in urban planning, climate change management and resilience planningAvailability to work flexible working hours.
Remuneration And Benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.
Entry level for this position starts at $2,175.94 per week35-hour working weekCar allowanceOpportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangementEmployee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
