Position title: Pastoral Care Coordinator
Direct reports to the position: Principal
Purpose of Position:
Ohana College actively engages young people who have
prematurely disengaged from mainstream schooling or other
educational programs. The Pastoral Care Coordinator
aims to improve the behavioural outcomes for students through
quality support and intervention. Furthermore, the Pastoral Care
Coordinator will oversee and support the management of student
wellbeing and behaviour across the college. The Pastoral Care
Coordinator will provide an excellent role model for all staff through
supporting and monitoring the learning and growth of effective
teachers; and setting high and clear standards for students and
staff performance.

Key
Responsibilities
? Support teaching staff to remove students from class and
relocate them to the R3 Room
? Ensure schoolwork is prepared for students and
communicated to parents for those who are bounced from
? Ensure the R3 room is monitored and organised to promote
positive learning
? Prompt communication and reporting to parents/guardians
and key stakeholders.
? Develop engaging and effective teaching and
learning/behaviour management strategies to support
students with welfare and behaviour challenges
? Develop and administer individualised intensive support
programs designed to support the social emotional and
behavioural presentations of students.
? Develop engaging programs and activities designed to
encourage positive interactions and behaviours
? Research best and current behaviour management
practices, facilitate staff professional development, and
monitor the implementation of these practices at school.
? Track student behaviour data effectively across all year
levels
? Lead retention team meetings to ensure behaviour matrix is
being implemented consistently and accurately
? Provide and record NCCD evidence and adjustments using
appropriate tracking forms, evidenced stakeholder
communication and individualised student plans.
? Provide policy and research driven recommendations to
teaching staff regarding behaviour management strategies
that best support the diverse needs of students.
? Lead and model exemplary behaviour management and
staff training upon induction.
? Comply with research and recommend the improvement of
relevant legislation and policy's related to behaviour
management
? Be able to work exceptionally in a team environment with
? Demonstrate expert knowledge in supporting students with
disabilities
? Support staff in the implementation and review of classroom
adjustments and individualised learning plans
? Responsibility for general discipline matters beyond the
management of classroom teachers and year level
? Contribute to the overall operational management of the
? Support the retention of students into the Ohana College
onsite or DE programs.
? Work within appropriate legislative frameworks and
organisational policy and procedures including following all
mandatory reporting requirements.
? Be aware of his/her skillset and be willing to seek help and
advice as required
? Always uphold professional integrity, e.g. discretion,
confidentiality, loyalty and trust

? An extensive understanding of the issues facing youth at risk
? Demonstrated ability to successfully engage young people in
relevant and dynamic learning
? A demonstrated capacity to think and act strategically; to
exercise sound judgement; and to support the principal in
leading the mission of the school
? Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of working with
students with disabilities
? Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of appropriate
behaviour management and relationship strategies within a
special assistance school
Miscellaneous ? Participate in professional development as required by the
organisation
? Any other tasks assigned which may be reasonably
requested from time to time which contribute to the success
of the organisation.

? Compliance with all relevant aspects of the Education
(Accreditation of Non-State Schools) Act, 2017 and
regulation
? Targets in relation to student achievement, enrolments,
retention, behaviour and wellbeing
? Successful completion of personal development plan for
self and relevant staff.
Person Requirements: (What is the type of person required?)
Qualifications/
Memberships:
? Cert IV in Youth work
? Diploma of Youth work
? Behaviour Support therapist
Experience: ? Previous experience in managing behaviour roles within
schools or community

? Able to develop good working relationships at all levels and
across regions
? Able to self-manage and meet deadlines
? Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills including
the ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative research
