Public Information Officer - COVID-19 Coordination Centre

Base salary: $89,600 (band 5) per annum, plus superannuation.

The Tasmanian Government’s COVID-19 Public Information Unit (PIU) needs a new Public Information Officer.

The PIU is part of the COVID-19 Coordination Centre and works alongside policy, planning, operation and health experts, all focused on Tasmania’s pandemic response.

The Unit coordinates the distribution of consistent, timely and accessible information from across government to the Tasmanian community.

The Public Information Officer will work across all aspects of the unit’s work, including channels such as the coronavirus website, social media,

print and electronic publications and behavioural and information campaigns.

They will develop and implement public information strategies, including liaison with service providers such as printers, photographers, translation and creative agencies, and also assist with web publishing and copywriting.

As the pandemic response is a whole-of-government effort, PIU team members collaborate with officers across all Tasmanian Government agencies and liaise with key community stakeholders to help information reach all corners of Tasmania.

This role will suit a well-organised multi-tasker who wants to join a passionate team that is driven to deliver the best possible results for the community.

The role includes being part of an on-call roster, and is fixed-term to 31 December 2022.
