Due to expansion, Ambulance Victoria is currently seeking Division 1 Registered Nurses and Registered Paramedics for Referral Service Triage Practitioner opportunities based in our Operational Communications Division.



Primarily located in Burwood in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Referral Service Triage Practitioners undertake a rotating roster in a 24-hour, 7-day work environment. Working either 21 (part-time) or 42 (full-time) hours per week, your rostered shifts will be between 10 to 12 hours each in length and incorporate morning, afternoon and night shifts.

About the role



Reporting to Referral Service Team Leaders, the positions perform a critical function within Ambulance Victoria, acting as a coordination point for ambulance callers who do not require emergency ambulance intervention and who can be better managed through an alternative service provider. Referral Service Triage Practitioners are responsible for conducting telephone triage aimed at identifying and providing the appropriate coordinated health management response to members of the community who call "000".



This role will enable you to use your clinical knowledge and skills in secondary patient triage and assessment. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:



- telephone triage of 000 calls

- referral to appropriate service providers within healthcare and community-based organisations

- operation of industry-specific communication systems

- engagement with internal and external stakeholders to determine a coordinated response

- rostered shifts to support the 24/7 service delivery requirement

About you



You will have a valid Victorian driver's licence on commencement, a current Working with Children Check, registered via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and possess a minimum of 4 years' contemporary clinical experience post-qualification. You will also:



either



1) be a Registered Paramedic



or



2) be a Division 1 Registered Nurse, with experience in at least one of the following:



- cardiac, cardiothoracic or intensive care

- triage nursing and/or emergency department patient care

- community or primary care nursing

- mental health nursing



You will need to be resilient and able to cope with the demands of working in a challenging but rewarding environment. You will also need to be comfortable navigating through multiple systems simultaneously. Experience in ADASTRA, Odyssey or CAD Interface systems is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided to successful candidates.
