The Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner (VLSB+C) has an exciting opportunity for an Investigator - Fidelity Fund, to play a key role in our Intervention & Enforcement team of the Investigations Division. The Division is responsible for investigations and regulatory responses, which may include prosecutions and litigation. Fidelity fund claims, trust account deficiency investigations, criminal investigations for fraud and unqualified legal practice, external interventions, complaints investigations, and compliance auditing are all part of its portfolio. Working as part of a team in the Investigations Division as a whole, this position will directly contribute to the development and implementation of these regulatory functions.





About the position



You will be responsible for conducting all aspects of the Fidelity Fund claims process as directed by the Senior Investigator, Fidelity Fund and Manager, Intervention & Enforcement. Your primary duty is to support the Senior Investigator, Fidelity Fund in a range of duties including: gather and review evidence; communicate with claimants in a courteous and timely manner; prepare and present reports to the Board; and, where necessary, brief counsel with respect to appeals against the Board's determinations. The successful candidate will have experience in building strong client relationships by establishing and maintaining trusted and respectful relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.



About you



As our ideal candidate, you will have:



- a current Victorian practising certificate or eligibility to obtain same;

- a high level of understanding of how to interpret and apply legislation; and

- experience conducting litigation in Tribunals and/or Courts.
