About the Role

We have an amazing part-time Pastoral Care Officer position available at the Mater Hospital.

The purpose of this position is to provide Pastoral Care Services to patients, families, significant others and staff of the Mater Hospital, Sydney. The position will work within the framework of the Mission, Vision, Values and Philosophy of St Vincent's Health Australia. The position will maintain personal and professional standards in accordance with the Code of Ethics for Pastoral Care in Health Care Settings and the Code of Conduct of SVHA.

About you

The candidate must have

- Qualifications in either Pastoral Care(e.g Clinical Pastoral Education- minimum 2 units or working towards completion of the qualification), theology, counselling, psychology, chaplaincy or equivalence

- Understanding of Clinical Pastoral issues and employment experience in a health care or other complex setting

- Understanding of Catholic tradition and the sacraments of the Catholic Church

- Understanding of and commitment to the Catholic ethos and identity of the Mater Hospital and St Vincent's Health Australia

- Excellent organisation and communication skills

- understanding and/or willingness to train in palliative care systems
