About This Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Research Manager to lead research administration and advisory services across a vibrant and interdisciplinary precinct at our St Lucia campus. This is a key leadership role where you will manage and mentor a high-performing team, coordinate precinct-based research initiatives and researcher development programs, and drive continuous improvement in research processes and funding success.
As part of the Faculty Research Office, you will also contribute to faculty-wide initiatives that strengthen research performance and foster a strong, collaborative research culture across all campuses. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting researchers, enhancing research capability, and making a meaningful impact within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Deliver expert, high-quality research administration services, including advice on funding, compliance, reporting, and internal processes that support research excellence.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, partnering with central units to align services with strategy and drive continuous improvement in research administration across the precinct.
- Enhance research funding success by coordinating initiatives such as internal peer review, application development support, and systems that improve proposal quality and diversify funding sources.
- Collaborate on strategic research and researcher development initiatives, contributing to performance reporting, capability building, and the implementation of faculty and university research priorities.

This role currently reports to the Senior Manager, Faculty Research Office in the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences,
and supervises the Senior Research Administration Officers in the St Lucia precinct

About You
- Postgraduate degree of relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education / training.
- Proven record of navigating stakeholder relationships and influencing outcomes in a dynamic and competitive research funding environment.
- Demonstrated skills to operate in an environment that requires problem solving, decision making and prioritisation.
- Proven ability to manage a team to achieve outcomes in a complex research environment.
- In depth knowledge of university processes, administrative systems, and research management within the tertiary sector.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check.
