About the role
- Contribute to the provision of an efficient and effective Anatomical Pathology service over two sites WCH and Frome Road by providing a scientific resource function to all areas of the department
- Contribute to the effective and efficient operation of Anatomical Pathology - by providing a scientific resource function to all areas of the department.
Perform routine and complex diagnostic testing and apply scientific knowledge towards the performance, analysis and troubleshooting of standard diagnostic procedures.
- Contribute to the dissection of simple and non-complex specimens according to NPAAC guidelines.
- Contribute to the provision of an efficient and effective Anatomical Pathology service by providing a scientific resource function to all areas of the department. Participate in the provision of a high-quality service by the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Mortuary.
- Contribute to quality assurance, NATA accreditation, training, and ongoing commitment to the teaching of pathologists and technical and scientific staff at WCH and the Paediatric Mortuary.
About You
You are a highly skilled and motivated scientific professional with extensive experience in anatomical pathology. You bring a deep understanding of specialised laboratory procedures, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in high-pressure clinical environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in histopathology, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining,
and performing specialised procedures such as immunohistochemistry and frozen sections.
- Proven ability to organise workload, troubleshoot equipment, maintain quality standards, and apply laboratory principles within ISO and NATA accreditation requirements.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, with the ability to guide others, manage sensitive information, and engage effectively with pathologists and clinical staff.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Coroners Act, Transplantation and Anatomy Act), human anatomy, and quality systems in pathology services.
