We're looking for a hands-on leader to join our Swanbank Product Destruction team as a Plant Operator – Leading Hand
If you’re an experienced plant operator with leadership skills and a mechanical background, this is your opportunity to step into a stable, full-time role that makes a real impact. You’ll be leading a small, close-knit crew at our Swanbank landfill site, working in product destruction and helping keep essential operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a small operational team within the Swanbank Product Destruction site
- Operate a variety of heavy machinery, including loaders, forklifts, skid steers, hook trucks, and concrete trucks
- Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently
- Move and manage waste bins across the site
- Oversee and assist in the destruction of products in accordance with safety and compliance standards
- Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all operational procedures
- Work outdoors in physically demanding landfill conditions
- Collaborate with team members and management to improve processes and solve daily challenges
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as a multi-disciplined Plant Operator
- Strong leadership experience and ability to guide a small crew
- Required licenses and tickets: HR license, Forklift, Skidsteer, Loader
- Mechanical background with a hands-on mindset
- Understanding of safety and compliance in industrial and transport environments
- Professional attitude and customer-focused approach
- Pride in your work, equipment, and appearance
- Waste industry experience is a bonus – but not essential
