Sterling and Wilson are a solar EPC provider, providing customised solutions for solar power projects including for third parties operating in more than 26 countries with a presence in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Australia. Sterling and Wilson Solar Australia has been appointed the EPC Contractor for multiple projects around Australia and is supported by global counterparts.



We have an opportunity for an experienced Environmental Adviser to join the team in Hopeland, Queensland, reporting to the Site HSE Manager. The position is to support the Project HSE Manager in ensuring that the project complies with all aspects of environmental regulations and Client obligations through risk management and the development, implementation,

and assurance of the Environmental management plan/s across the project.



Key accountabilities of the role include:



- Develop and maintain positive key stakeholder relationships.

- Work with the Project Leadership Team and the workforce to drive and promote the philosophy of safety (Environment) being the presence of effective controls.

- Assist with the development, review and implementation of the Environmental Management System including policies, procedures, and compliance registers.

- Prepare environmental approval documentation for external agencies in a timely manner.

- Develop and implement the Construction and Environmental Management Plan (CEMP)and other management plans that may require development and implementation at a site level including Landscape Management Plan, Construction and Nuisance management Plan, Stormwater Management Plan, Erosion and Sediment Control Plan, Cultural Heritage Management Plan, Waste Management Plan and Fauna and Flora Management Plan.

- Facilitate and coordinate environmental inspections and implement environmental monitoring programs to ensure that compliance activities are undertaken.

- Flora & fauna onsite management.

- Develop and present toolbox topics to the workforce to promote prevalent environmental issues; and develop informational resources to be disseminated to both internal and external stakeholders to increase environmental awareness within the organisation.

- Train staff involved on-site job functions on environmental matters.

- Provide advice to all departments on environmental related matters.

- Develop management systems to monitor environmental issues.

- Capture and enter all project environmental reporting into ProcessMap.



- Lead/assist in the development and maintenance of the Project Risk Register pertaining to environmental risks in accordance with legislation, SWA and client requirements.

- Conduct risk-based assurance against the CEMP/s to identify compliance and opportunities for improvement.



- Review the Environmental aspects of the Subcontractors evaluation and pre-qualification process.

- Conduct/participate in incident investigations related to environmental non-compliances.

- Provide solutions to overcome highlighted environmental risks.

About you (skills and experience):



- Local environment legislation/regulations

- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering or equivalent (Mandatory)

- Internal Auditors ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems / ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems (Preferred)

- ICAM (Preferred)

- CPESC qualifications (Preferred)

- 5 years’ experience in a similar or greater capacity

- EPC, renewable projects, civil construction experience

- Ability to effectively prioritise and manage time and workload.

- Robust understanding of relevant legislation

- Solution focussed and process orientated.
