How you'll make an impact



Xero's Corporate Development team is responsible for sourcing, evaluating,

executing and integrating the company's strategic acquisitions and investments. You will be a key contributor to the strategy and culture of the team, and support evolving the decision making frameworks that will determine whether we build, buy, invest or partner on opportunities and the processes for execution.



The Associate position offers an incredible opportunity to help source and execute acquisitions and investments of all sizes and on a global basis for Xero from origination to completion. The Associate will help the team identify, meet and evaluate opportunities, conduct due diligence & analysis and prepare internal approval presentations It is a hugely impactful role with high visibility and strong progression and growth opportunities.



These acquisitions and investments will continue to build on Xero's amazing product stack, move the company into adjacent spaces and differentiate its go to market offering. The deals you help transact will add value to our customers, ultimately our shareholders and create a track record and portfolio representative of a fast growth, leading global technology company.

What you'll do



Help evaluate, structure and solve business problems / opportunities, collaborating with a range of stakeholders across Xero

Support and manage discrete elements of the M&A; process e.g. Industry/Market scans, Target evaluation, Financial modelling and analysis, DD workstreams and ad hoc analysis, XIC and Board papers and presentations and investment theses

Build rapport and credibility with internal and external stakeholders

Support the development of researched and data driven recommendations based on organisational / market / industry insights

Design and build models (e.g. commercial / financial) to support strategic, commercial / investment decision making

Support the communication of recommendations / findings to stakeholders across Xero (e.g.

Senior Management and other teams)

Contribute to planning, project management and execution of strategic programs of work / activities

Proactively support with continuous improvement, standardisation activities and team initiatives to improve performance, quality and effectiveness e.g. inorganic growth decision-making frameworks

What you'll bring with you



Relevant graduate degree.

CA / CFA / MBA (desired not essential)

3 - 5 years of related relevant experience (e.g. Corp Dev / M&A;, DD/Lead advisory in Big 4 or Top tier management consulting, Investment Banking, PE, VC)

Experience in teams performing complex cross functional projects with multiple stakeholders

Financial modelling

Financial and Commercial Due Diligence

Interest in the SaaS / Fintech / Accounting industry and / or adjacent sectors relevant to Xero

Experience of due diligence / assessing businesses from the outside in, specifically being able to efficiently understand and assess a business and it's key risks, and efficiently determine the information and work required to assess these risks and the opportunity as a whole

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal

Collaborative approach with the ability to adapt style and deliver to different audiences.

Strong project management skills including ability to multi-task and drive multiple end-to-end workstreams simultaneously.
