About the Role

This is a temporary full-time position until December 2022. This position is responsible for coordinating, undertaking and initiating research and policy development of all Councils related policies across a range of subjects and areas to contribute to better outcomes for Council and the community.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

- Initiate and develop Council policies that guide programs and services to address the needs of Council and the community

- Research, analyse and evaluate issues to formulate and implement policies

- Provide advice and assistance on Council policies and maintain Councils policy standards

- Engage with subject matter experts on the development of Council policies across the organisation

- Engage and consult with key stakeholders to identify emerging issues and develop solutions that support sound policy decisions and approaches

- Provide leadership, guidance and support and a point of contact for staff on Council policies that impact business unit operations

- Provide effective communication to the organisation on policy development and implementation

- Work effectively with team members towards mutual continued development and to provide feedback to each other on policy research and analysis

- Develop a policy renewal calendar to create an orderly process for the regular phased assessment of existing Council policies for currency and consistency.

About the Person

The successful candidate will have a degree in business / communication or law, and should have previous demonstrated experience in developing policies and procedures, a demonstrated understanding of Local Government and all related legislation relating to Local Government and demonstrated experience in implementing policies to a wide range of audiences. Skills required include:

- Advanced word processing skills

- Good organisational and time management skills

- Good written and oral communication skills

- Policy and procedure writing skills

- Accuracy and attention to detail.

We are offering an attractive salary from $99,462.50 p.a. plus Super. City of Parramatta also offer excellent employee benefits which can be accessed by the successful candidate.
