100%;" ><p> <br > <u><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">This is a current vacancy to commence ASAP and conclude on 06-Feb-2022. <span><strong><u> <p style="font-family: Arial;;">Working in the Intensive Care Unit enables the Senior Resident Medical Officer to develop a good practical knowledge of common critical illnesses, experience in the management of critically ill patients with senior supervision, and the appropriate procedural skills. The ICU SRMO will learn to recognize life threatening illness or acute physiological change, and how to respond appropriately in terms of early management of airway, breathing and circulation.<p> <br > <b>What you'll be doing<b> <ul> <li>Clinical management of ICU patients under supervision, including the resuscitation and management of unstable patients within the ICU and hospital.<li> <li>Undertake review of ICU and ward patients as required, attend ward rounds, prescribe drugs, fluids and ventilator settings.<li> <li>Ensuring that all transports for procedures outside the ICU are conducted according to CICM standards for transport of the critically ill.<li> <li>Team member of Medical Emergency Team and the hospital Trauma Team.<li> <li>SRMOs will get the opportunity to do various procedures such as arterial line, central line or PICC line insertion etc.<li> <li>Participating in 247 rotating roster of days, evenings, nights and weekends.<li> <ul> <br > <b>Where you'll be working<b> <p style="font-family: Arial;;">The facilities at the Nepean Hospital include:<p> <ul> <li>The department consists of 22 ICU beds. The unit has 8 Staff Specialists, 1 Clinical Superintendent, 4 Fellows, 10 Trainees, 4 Senior Medical Resident Officers and 4 Residents.<li> <li>Radiology Radiography - This includes, general imaging, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, MRI, CT scan. Reporting is done on site and generally imaging is available on a 24 hour basis.<li> <li>Pathology – This service is operational 247.<li> <li>The Nepean Hospital has a successful Emergency Department, obstetric, neuro, orthopaedic, cancer care, coronary care, geriatric, rehabilitation, psychiatry and an outreach service<li> <li>Surgical service is operational 7 days per week.<li> <ul> <div> <div class="job_qualifications"> <div style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"><b>Essential requirements<b> <ul> <li><span>MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category<span>.<li> <li>Demonstrated interest in working at Nepean Hospital.<li> <li>Completion of at least two postgraduate years by the time of commencement of employment, including demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position.<li> <li>Sufficient clinical experience in order to undertake the key duties for this role.<li> <li>Completion of suitable courses such as BASIC, ALS and an interest in Intensive CareCritical Care.<li> <li>This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent’s registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role. <li> <li>Good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.<li> <li>Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check.<li> <li><span>To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time<span><li> <ul> <br > <b>Selection criteria<b> <ol> <li>Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.<li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.<li> <li>Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.<li> <li>Adept written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team.<li> <li>Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.<li> <li>Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.<li> <li>Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.<li> <ol> <div> <div style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"><br > <b>
