The focus of the Environmental Health and Safety Manager (EHS)

 is to lead and support the Americas cluster in achieving the DeLaval goal of zero incidents, accidents and work-related ill health. Reporting to DeLaval’s Global Director for EHS in Sweden, the role of the EHS Manager will be responsible for EHS in all global Americas locations including, manufacturing and field operations in North and Latin America (Americas), encompassing chemical factories, warehouses, dealerships, farms and corporate locations.

- Lead efforts in the operational unit to develop a pervasive safety culture, EHS compliance and performance and exchange of best practices

- Develop concepts and measures of improvement with line managers and provide EHS Management Reviews

- Reporting on EHSE relevant issues and provision of necessary data for monthly EHSE reporting and KPI-assessment

- Serve as a key member of the Global EHS and Americas EHSE teams and act as liaison between Global EHS, Management and Americas locations for key communications, management of EHSE risks and Market Area-wide EHSE projects

- Manage and coordinate any pertinent health screenings, incident protocols and recording

- Manage and Coordinate implementation and maintenance of EHS management systems certified according to EHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 (where applicable)

- Manage and monitor performance of the DeLaval Safety Management System (DSMS) for workplace and transportation safety

- Ensure that the DSMS contains policies, programs and procedures consistent with applicable Federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations (including OSHA, IOSH, FMCSA and DOT) and with relevant standards, best practices and recommended guidelines.


- Ability to work well individually as well as in a global team

- Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and presentation

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, detail-oriented and well-organized

- Skilled in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

- Proven ability to identify, develop and implement strategic solutions for EHSE issues

- Lead change and where necessary, influence paradigm shifts in Safety practices and culture

- Ability to build trust with different stakeholders on all levels and all functional capacities

- Build a keen understanding of differences in culture and business practices in the implementation of best practice EHSE programs


- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)

- 4+ years in a leadership role managing people or functional areas related to EHS

- 7+ years of work experience in a core EHS / EHS position

- Demonstrated record of creating successful EHS&E; programs with metrics and remediation

- Experience working in a global organization highly preferred or genuine interest in working in a multi-cultural work environment

- Ability to travel 30-40% to global locations in North and South America with no restrictions on ability to obtain a visa or other travel-related processes.
