Division Director Data and Regulatory Reporting Operational Risk, Sydney

Lead our Line 2 Data and Regulatory Reporting Operational Risk team based in Sydney. This newly created position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your operational risk skills and experience to influence data risk thinking across the enterprise.

The role of Operational Risk in Macquarie is to form an independent view of Macquarie’s operational risk profile and effect change in operational risk management and culture across the Macquarie Group. As a leader in Enterprise Risk, you will own policies and have responsibilities providing specialised risk leadership and insight to ensure frameworks and practices are effectively applied across the enterprise. You will provide advice and oversight across a suite of Enterprise Risk Frameworks including Data, Regulatory Reporting and Records Lifecycle Management. You will work closely with senior Central Operations Group and Risk Management leaders across Macquarie.

You will drive a strong risk management culture and provide risk management expertise, independent advisory, and challenge to senior management. Working closely with the framework owners in the Central Service Groups, and the Leads responsible for implementation within operating groups, you will work in collaboration with framework owners in the implementation and oversight of these Risk Frameworks. You will provide subject matter expertise and leadership to assure that the Risk Frameworks adequately consider potential people, process and system causes of risk events and lead reviews to support continuous improvement of business risk management, including thematic reviews of issues, incidents, risk profiles and supporting metrics.

With a strong leadership background in data governance and management and operational risk or assurance within financial services you will have relevant experience in the control frameworks, processes, and operations for the risk types within the scope of this position. You will have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a global organisation to deliver results. You will possess excellent communication skills and an ability to synthesise information to identify themes and priorities for leaders, both in verbal communication and written reports. You will have a strong presence with leadership to drive robust and challenging conversations. Your investigative mindset, proactive curiosity, and drive to explore where business processes may fail, and with proven ability to sustain high levels of performance in a fast-paced, output focused environment.
