Employment Type: Permanent Full Time

- $98,550.00 to $108,947.50 p.a. plus superannuation 

- Potential market rate allowance of up to $12,000 p.a. based on experience

- Full time - 35 hours per week plus fortnightly RDO



About the role



An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Governance Coordinator to join the Governance & Council Support team at Woollahra Municipal Council on a full time, permanent basis.



As Governance Coordinator you will work collaboratively across all areas of Council to raise the awareness and profile of Governance. The position will support the effective and efficient coordination of governance, policy and access to information functions,

ensuring that all governance matters are finalised, meet best practice, management and legislative requirements.



Reporting to the Manager Governance & Council Support you will be responsible for undertaking various governance tasks including:



- Coordination of Councils business paper function;

- Coordination and oversight of informal, formal and internal reviews relating to access to information applications (i.e.

Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 applications and Privacy matters);

- Coordination and oversight of the policies and procedures framework;

- Management and development of staff in the function areas of governance, policy and access to information; and

- Develop and promote a Governance Framework to support Council’s Governance focus, including documentation of internal processes, to name a few.



This position is based at Woollahra Council Chambers in Double Bay, situated in a modern harbourside office and close to public buses and Edgecliff Train Station.



About you



To be successful in this role you will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Local Government, Business, Commerce, Management, Law and/or extensive experience in a governance related role preferably in local government. You will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills together with the ability to manage, lead and develop others.

Essential Criteria



- Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Local Government, Commerce or similar relevant area, and/or extensive experience in a similar role.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive team performance and train, develop and mentor individuals to achieve business outcomes.

- Demonstrated ability to be proactive in identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement to governance processes, systems and/or a Governance Framework.

- Proven ability to successfully implement business process change.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build successful

relationships and influence and collaborate with staff at all levels.

- Developed analytical, investigative and interpretative skills.

- Proven ability to draft policies, procedures, prepare reports, submissions and briefing papers.

- Ability to work independently, set priorities, develop work plans, project manage to

meet objectives and deadlines.

- Demonstrated skills in delivery of training for staff at all levels.



Desirable Criteria



- Relevant and practical experience in administration and interpretation of the Local

Government Act and Regulations.

- Demonstrated knowledge in Governance (including delegations, policy development,

probity and statutory reporting).

- Experience in the use/administration of a business paper system (e.g. InfoCouncil),

BigTinCan (i.e. the Hub) and HPE electronic document management record system.

- NSW Drivers’ Licence.
