About the Role of Ophthalmology Senior Registrar and Ophthalmology Fellow (Cataract and Medical Retina)
Applications are invited to apply for the positions of Ophthalmology Senior Registrar or Ophthalmology Fellow.
The Ophthalmology Department provides clinical services at Monash Medical Centre and Cranbourne Centre. Surgical services at the Cranbourne Day Surgery provide the second highest annual number of cataract operations in Victoria, with a smaller surgical service at Monash Medical Centre. On-call emergency services are provided at MMC, Monash Children's, Dandenong, Casey and Moorabbin Hospitals, and Kingston Centre. The Department comprises the Director of Department, twenty-two sessional consultants and six orthoptists.
The successful applicants will work in a busy ophthalmology department with extensive experience in all aspects of ophthalmology. In this role you will provide clinical and surgical services in a range of settings. This includes the multidisciplinary preadmission clinic for patients referred by community ophthalmologists and optometrists, surgery and postoperative assessment at Cranbourne. Outpatient clinics at Clayton provide inpatient and outpatient referral services for both adult and paediatric populations and cover all aspects of ophthalmology including medical and surgical retina, paediatrics/ocular motility, corneal and oculoplastics. As part of the largest health network in Victoria, the ophthalmic cases are often associated with complex medical problems.

You will have appropriate qualifications, registration and professional experience, preferably being able to perform routine cataract surgery independently. What you need:
- A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) which is recognised for registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Trainee of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) or comparable
- Motor vehicle driver licence
- The ability to perform routine cataract surgery independently is preferred
