Your new team
The primary role of this position is Deputy to the Head of the VIDRL Serology Laboratory, which is responsible for the diagnosis and confirmatory testing of a wide range of infectious diseases. This includes state-wide reference activities such as HIV confirmatory testing and national and international reference activities such as the measles reference laboratory. [Note: Job share may be considered].
The serology Laboratory is comprises a team of scientists working within VIDRL, at The Doherty Institute situated within the biomedical Parkville Precinct.
We are in the fortunate position of having a Diagnostic component as well as Reference and Public Health functions and work locally, nationally and internationally.
Your success in this role, will be in your ability to
- To have a thorough understanding of Infectious Diseases Serology.
- Work and communicate successfully in a team.
- To understand the importance of laboratory safety and NATA requirements.
- To deputise for the laboratory head when required.
- Participate in ongoing training
- To provide supervision and training to staff and students
- Excellent organisation, communication and teamwork skills are essential.
- Significant previous laboratory experience in infectious disease serology
- Provide leadership and support to the team as required
