Job Summary

: Under administrative direction; ensures the safety and protection of the University community, property, and assets; manages departmental administrative responsibilities, including payroll, communications, planning, policy development, and updates, budgets, and equipment and supply purchases; directs and supervises in-service training and testing of employees, development of new technologies, and crime prevention programs for the University.

Job Duties:

- Manages administrative duties; oversees payroll and communication functions to include alarm systems and dispatching calls for service; develops and updates departmental policies and procedures, job descriptions, telecommunication technologies,

and alarm and video monitoring; manages testing programs.

- Administers budget process for equipment, uniforms, and supply purchases; coordinates in-service training; manages crime prevention programs, including seminars for faculty, staff, and students; performs other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of law enforcement methods, procedures, and terminology

- Knowledge of personnel utilization

- Interpersonal/human relations skills

- Verbal and written communication skills

- Planning, organizational, and time management skills

- Accounting, bookkeeping, and budgetary skills

- Report preparation skills

- Supervisory skills

- Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions

- Ability to operate personal computer and various software programs

- Ability to maintain confidentiality

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or at least ten (10) years of relative law enforcement experience; with at least five (5) years being in a supervisory capacity. Security officer license and class E license are required. Requires passing psychological screening and drug screening upon hire and throughout employment.
