The SCHN Eating Disorder Service (EDS) is a specialist service operating at The Children’s Hospital, Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. This is the largest Child and Adolescent EDS in Australia, treating young people with anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders from all over New South Wales. SCHN is recognised by NSW Health as the Speciality Tertiary Network for child and adolescent eating disorders. The EDS is jointly managed and staffed by the Department of Psychological Medicine and Department of Adolescent Medicine. The service has a medical and allied health co-lead who are responsible for the strategic direction and daily management of the staff and programs. The primary purpose of this position is to provide high level coordination and support to enhance clinical care pathways for eating disorder patients within SCHN and support NSW LHDs in developing their child and adolescent eating disorder care pathways and models of care. A key component of the NSW Health Eating Disorder Service Plan is to have Eating Disorder Coordinator in every LHD and Speciality Network and thus this role has a state-wide mandate.
