DJPR's Public Events Team is looking for an experienced, skilled, and motivated Manager to join its Policy and Strategy Team. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership experience, excellent policy nous, communication skills and problem-solving ability. You will also be comfortable managing competing demands in a high-performing, fast-paced environment.
Reporting to the Director, Policy and Strategy and managing staff within the Public Events Team, the position will be responsible for developing strategic frameworks and providing high quality, strategic policy advice to senior leaders and Ministers. The position will also support key decision-making processes, working collaboratively to resolve issues and support the COVIDSafe hosting of events and recovery of Victoria's events sector.
Public Events Team
The Public Events Team (PET) is a new Unit in CSVE which supports the safe hosting of public events in Victoria. This includes support for arts and cultural, live performance, community festivals, sporting, and business events. The PET drives development of policy and protocols relating to COVIDSafe public events, as set out in the Government's Public Events Framework, working closely with a range of Government agencies and other Groups in DJPR.
The PET's Policy team provides policy and strategy advice to support the events sector to recover safely in Victoria. The team navigates the complex environment of COVIDSafe events and event sector recovery. It also supports a senior executive led Inter-Departmental Committees and a Ministerial Taskforce. The PET also engages directly with event organisers and stakeholders to support the development and implementation of COVIDSafe Event Plans.
The key accountabilities of the role will include:
Lead a team tasked with developing strategic policy to support the events sector to recover in Victoria. Provide strong, collaborative, and adaptable leadership, including coaching and mentoring, to foster a high-performance culture that delivers outcomes across the team. Provide high quality and timely strategic policy advice and recommendations on issues relating to public events to senior executive, broader DJPR leadership and Ministers. Lead policy and strategy projects, submissions, briefings, PowerPoint presentations and reports for senior executive, Ministers and DJPR senior leadership. Identify issues and initiate and lead negotiations with peers (internal and external) to gain commitment to policies and reforms, and delivery of activities to meet timelines. Manage a team workflow in a fast-paced environment and navigate and optimise government and branch processes to deliver products in a timely way.
