About the Opportunity

As the Senior Linux Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the installation and configuration, operation, and maintenance of computing, messaging systems and infrastructure.

You will ensure that the Computing infrastructure platforms and associated data storage sub systems meet the current performance, reliability, & security requirements of the project or business. These services may include general Linux and Unix server management, Red Hat Satellite, Puppet and Ansible Automation, Web proxy, Backups, Printing and File systems.

Support the optimisation of applications operating within Server Computing platforms and associated data storage sub systems effectively and efficiently Provide system administration of the Red Hat/Oracle Linux and Solaris Unix Server Computing platforms and associated data storage sub systems for effective governance and functional requirements Propose and recommend solutions for customer requirements, particularly as they apply to the server storage and computing environments Recommend and select appropriate management tools for Server Computing platforms, and data storage systems Lead the planning and design, in both the team and as an individual, to ensure the Computing platform infrastructure is fully documented and supportable Install new servers, rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage in accordance with standards and operational requirements Plan and implement upgrades and patches of operating systems by conferring with vendors and services, developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new systems Undertake Incident and Service Request resolution for the services within the portfolio in line with service level expectations Communicate with vendors to resolve technical issues Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration, and improvements to current and new systems within budget constraints Ensure Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans and procedures exist and are current for all relevant services Lead the maintenance of accurate configuration control records of all relevant hardware and software systems Plan and monitor project, maintenance and integration activities to quality, cost and schedule Design solutions that are consistent with architectural and business needs Educate customers and support teams in systems concepts and troubleshooting techniques

About you

As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:

Significant experience as a Linux Systems Administrator or Engineer Demonstrated ability to manage and support the relevant computing systems Experience working with relevant computing platforms and their associated enterprise environments Experience supporting relevant computing platforms Experience with software associated with relevant computing platforms Experience managing and tuning relevant computing platforms Experience with the Solaris (Unix) Operating System will be an advantage

A degree in Information Technology or Engineering will be highly regarded.
