About the role
The Senior Manager, Asset Management-Strategy is responsible for leading the preparation of long-term strategic capital planning and advice relating to the property estate of UNSW. The estate advice must align with UNSW’s long-term master plan and 2025 Strategy.
This role will work collaboratively across all levels of the Estate Management team in formulating strategy for the estate and providing direction for UNSW’s capital investment in property assets.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
Build strong and trusted relationships with UNSW and external stakeholders and agencies for the achievement of EM and UNSW estate objectives to enable progression of estate strategic and investment matters. Collaborate with EM Executive Team to understand EM vision, capabilities; and asset needs. Undertake the development of robust campus planning, capital and infrastructure planning tools and assist in the development of the strategic asset management capability and processes within EM, including benefit realisation and continuous improvement. Prepare and assist in the implementation of a detailed long term strategic (7 year) Business Plan for the UNSW campuses to forecast the capital and strategic decisions required for the ongoing success of UNSW, including preparation of campus assets plans on a per building basis. Explore options for technology solutions that will support the operation of the SAMP. Champion EM led initiatives as required, demonstrating commitment to success in providing effective solutions to business needs. Maintain an awareness of and currency in relevant acts, industrial awards, legislation and local rules and customs which may affect the UNSW estate and its operations. Undertake strategic estate studies including option appraisal, project prioritisation and financial feasibility analysis of property schemes and legal structure arrangements with development partners.
To be successful in this role you will have:
A degree in a relevant property or business-related discipline with demonstrated extensive experience in managing stakeholder relationships to deliver and communicate outstanding strategic advice and implement projects. Experience in leading or contributing to the development and implementation of estate management / property portfolio strategy including understanding of valuation, investment structuring, legal documentation of property transactions and construction/ project management matters. Strong leadership and collaboration skills that remain focused on delivery of key strategic initiatives. Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and operationally, with the ability to articulate a clear vision, through viability paper and business case development, financial analysis and budget management, setting clear objectives to manage unplanned and complex situations in an effective manner. Experience in successfully leading or participating in a multi-disciplinary team of property professionals, including external consultants and delivery partners, particularly in due diligence activities and transactions.
