The role with us

As a Cyber Security Senior Lead, you play a critical role in ensuring that Telstra provides an industry leading secure ecosystem for employees and customers. You draw on your deep expertise and experience in cyber security and technology use leading-edge practices to identify, anticipate, respond to and resolve security threats.

The holder of this role provides leadership to seven staff including assignment of tasks, coaching and management duties. They are accountable and responsible for delivery of cyber security risk assessments at business unit and system levels and, reporting as required by management, the Audit and Risk Committee and the Telstra Board.

Key responsibilities:

Provide management, direction and coaching to a team of seven staff, ensuring key performance measures are obtained and, required skills and experience are continuously developed. Ensure Business Unit level risk assessments relating to product/ application/ network are conducted in a timely manner, against Telstra policy and standards, and findings are understood, managed and either remediated or risk accepted. Drive the business units to ensure assessment findings are resolved in accordance with Telstra Risk Standards and expectations. Compile reports as required for management, including the Audit and Risk Committee and, the Telstra Board. Build relationship with Business Units to continually understand priorities and expectations and, drive a risk-based approach to ensure focussed funding where there is poor security posture. Ensure risks are registered and tracked in a universal capability and integrated with overall broader company toolsets. Provide critical thinking and strategic initiatives to maintain a continuous improvement program of assessment work practices and training. Use findings to provide input to areas including policy development, system testing and security awareness programs. Provide advice and guidance on cyber security risk issues as required by Telstra’s business units. HSE Responsibility: Take reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others, comply with and implement any reasonable Telstra HSE instruction, policy, standard, minimum requirement or procedure, and support Telstra to meet its duties under the relevant safety and environmental legislation.

To be successful in the role, you'll need:

5 years of recent relevant experience in Cyber Security, including experience leading a cyber risk program. Knowledge of current trends within the Cyber Security threat landscape. Understanding of Quality Management and Information Security Standards, NIST, ISO27001, ASD, TSSR Cyber Security related technical, theoretical, and practical knowledge. ICT Security Risk Management experience. A demonstrated ability to provide confident and assured presentations to audiences including senior management, with a mix of technical and non-technical groups. A collaborative, team first approach to personnel management and task execution. Well-developed critical thinking. Demonstrate an ability to work independently, maintaining reliability, self-motivation and the motivation of the team.

Highly desirable

Experience leading teams Federal and State Government Cyber Security, Risk and Compliance experience Proactive, resilient, and able to work productively Audit Qualification (CISA/ISO lead Auditor) viewed favorably. Broad knowledge across a range of compliance frameworks Knowledge and use of Telstra’s Cyber Control frameworks Understanding of Australian cyber laws and standards
