A challenging,

permanent opportunity for a Head of Technology – Dental has arisen within our Health Services business unit. This position is to be based in Sydney .

Reporting into the Technology Director of Health Services and Aged Care Australia, this role is to be responsible for leading the Technology function in the Bupa Dental business, including digital and technology, operational and project delivery.

Ideally, the incumbent will have demonstrated experience managing enterprise type digital technology transformations as well as complex matrices. This role will also encompass engaging and collaborating with stakeholders in terms of newer, leaner ways of working and achieving desired outcomes.

Main Responsibilities include:

- Business engagement

- Build and develop strong relationships as the point of engagement between IS and the relevant business leaders

- Partner with the business and provides technology consulting based on a deep understanding of the business context and drivers

- Frontier thinking and strategy development

- Lead and orchestrate Business Technology Strategy for the Dental business, building out roadmap and investment cases and ownership through to successful execution

- Working closely with the Technology Director to provides proactive, frontier, strategic thinking to broker Technology solutions for the business, that have consideration for the financial and commercial implications

- Participates in the business and A&NZ; annual planning process to align technology priorities and plans to business priorities, all the while taking ownership for the technology plan

- Works with architects to assess impact of new technologies and the architecture roadmap, and to act as a technology thought leader

- Interacts with technology vendors to identify and evaluate new technology products for their portfolio

- Delivery

- End to end accountability for Project Delivery and Ops, which may include coordination of delivery through various Technology teams.

- Ensures change initiatives within the business area are delivered effectively to agreed outcomes, including managing project resources, liaising with business stakeholders, and orchestrating across vendors

- Service management

- Participates in developing the service strategy for one or more services

- Reviews business requests for service enhancements and undertakes cost evaluation, standards reviews, and prioritization

- Contributes service descriptions and service-level agreements (SLAs) for specific services and guides continuous improvement efforts for the service

- Security, Legal, regulatory and policy compliance

- Ownership of information security controls and delivery of key information security deliverables.

- Legal and regulatory compliance, adherence to internal operating procedures together with the management of business risks is the responsibility of every Bupa employee. You are required to comply with Bupa’s risk and compliance policies, procedures, frameworks and regulatory requirements, as they apply to your specific role at Bupa.

- Ensure that Bupa Australia’s Health & Safety policy and associated policies and procedures are effectively implemented to minimise risk and to provide employees with a safe working environment and safe systems of work.

Skills and Experience:

Dental Specific Technology

- Good knowledge, working with Practice Management systems and engagement with practice employees.

- Understanding of procurement systems and key dental analytics

Ideal experience & delivered performance

- Significant business and technology experience and background, with a breadth and depth of IS disciplines

- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills

- Strong commercial acumen and financial literacy

- Solid experience in understanding and streamlining of business processes with ideal exposure to LEAN/6S methodologies

- Experience of initiating and sustaining various business and IS interventions/programs with measurable results

- A key member and contributor of the senior Information Services leadership group, providing meaningful support. Involved in broader business issues, projects and commercial decision making

- Evidence of strong personal influence – upstream ‘shaper’ of the strategic IS agenda for Bupa as a whole

- Has built a reputation for effective and timely delivery and making things happen

- Experience of successfully managing complex relationships that may include Bupa colleagues; third party relationships; and industry forums

- Able to drive operational excellence and a strong performance ethos

- Significant experience managing business change demand and Project Initiation together with key stakeholder management

- Experience in working in Health Industry, Health Insurance Industry, or related industry

- Has a real can do attitude looks for ways to make things happen rather than seeing the barriers and is able to bring the whole team along on the journey

- Is a real team player with a focus on the outcomes for the business working across teams facilitating and driving the deliverables

- Thinks creatively and challenges the ‘way we do things’ to find better ways of achieving the desired outcome
