About the opportunity:



The Australia Defence Force (ADF)

Health Services contract allows Bupa to provide health support to 85,000 ADF personnel across 59 facilities.



The opportunity has arisen for a talented Data Engineer to join Bupa on a six-month, full time, fixed term contract.



The Data Engineer (ADF) is a key contributor to enhancing Bupa’s ADF Health Services’ data connectivity and analytics platform to enable effective analysis and decision-making.



The role is responsible for contributing to the day-to-day management of analytics platforms, as well as contributing to the overall design of the system.



Working on a six-month fixed term contract and reporting into the Head of Delivery Governance and working within a team of data engineers, DBAs and data analysts, this role will have no direct reports.



Key responsibilities:



- Monitor and maintain a SQL Server data warehouse and Analysis Services Tabular model.



- Stay up to date with business best practice in using and retrieving data.



- Customise storage and extraction, metadata, and information repositories.



- Create and use effective metrics and monitoring processes.



- Deliver on data warehouse architecture designs and relational databases to support data mining.



- Author reports that include key performance indicators, show where current operations can be improved, and identify the causes of any problems.



- Support the development of business analytics and intelligence tools.



- Design and build process automations that deliver quantifiable operational efficiency.



Experience:



- Relevant Business Intelligence / undergraduate / post-graduate qualifications will be highly regarded



- 1-3 years’ experience in data engineering, data management or similar



- Fluent with SQL and related technology languages. Required



- Experiencing working in data marts and data warehouses in SQL Server. Previous exposure to data cubes is desirable



- Knowledge of how to incorporate other technologies into data management, including SharePoint, PowerPivot, SSRS, Excel pivot tables and macros



- Experiencing applying database, storage, collection and aggregation models, techniques, and technologies in business settings



- Strong communication skills and able to engage with non-technical stakeholders to provide advice, guidance, and updates on data related activities



- Understanding of the strategic use of data in a health context would be very highly regarded.



- You must be an Australian citizen to apply for this role



- You must be able to attain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance from the Defence Security and Vetting Service



Key technologies:



- Microsoft SQL Server (requires SQL Administration skills, strong T-SQL skills, including stored procedures and CDC) 



- SQL Server Analysis Services tabular models (Tabular data modelling and DAX queries) (SSRS preferred) 



- Power BI (especially Power BI Report Server) 



- Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines 



- Azure Blob storage and Polybase
