The Opportunity

We have a great opportunity for an experienced State Sales Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Wholesale Sales, you will lead the execution of the Sales Strategy through your exceptional sales leadership and coaching of the SA and NT Sales team. The role has overall responsibility for sales planning, setting targets and to drive profitable growth throughout the two states under your control. You will also be responsible for the development of business relationships with major groups, key account customers and independent pharmacies including the identification of new business opportunities through strategic targeting.

This is an external facing leadership role and as such you will use your outstanding relationship management and leadership skills and deep understanding of the pharmacy industry and retail environment to grow mutual profitability for Sigma and its customers.

You will be responsible for the following key objectives:

- Develop and implement key strategic and tactical initiatives to drive the recruitment in the wholesale component of the business

- Develop and implement strategies to identify wholesale and retail pharmacies at risk of resignation and create processes to retain them

- Assess customers spend to identify any “leakage” to competitors, review all reports pertaining to leakage

- Actively build relationships with all key and influential business owners within defined region

- Act as an escalation point for discussions with at risk customers and during the negotiation of non-standard trading terms with potential new customers

- Conduct trading term discussions as required

- Analysis of IMS share information to identify opportunities and low MAT

- Oversee the recruitment of profitable new businesses, in line with the Sales strategy and prepare business plans to assist account acquisition

- Use the tools of Mapping, IMS data, team knowledge and industry information to identify prospect targets

- Ensure completion of the call cycle/ planner, ensuring all prospects are regularly called upon

- Complete CRM for all calls in IFX

Skills and experience you will bring to the role:

- Detailed knowledge of pharmaceutical segment/category and ideally some retail pharmacy exposure

- Development of strategy and the successful execution of these plans

- Experience working with and managing customers

- Demonstrated people management skills – motivating and leading a team

- Previous experience leading and mentoring a successful sales team

- Driving and implementing a culture within your sales team of sustained growth and team co-operation

- Experience in the development, management and analysis of financial reports and budgets

- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and planning skills
